The speciality of “Safety Management Engineering”, put on records by the Office of Degree Committee of State Department, is created under the first-class subject of Authorization Spot for Doctor’s Degree of Mining Engineering and self-determined by Liaoning Technical University with second-class subject, whose code is 081921. Based on the theory, technology and methods of management science, the speciality is employed to adjust the relationships of men and things in the life and production domains, and to make them run harmoniously and high efficient. The management is implemented to protect the safety and health of men and things, and make all kinds of movement go along scenically and sequencely. The important subjects related with the speciality of Safety Management Engineering include Management Engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Philosophy, Viewpoint of Great Safety, Safety Human Engineering, Safety Equipment Engineering, etc. Based on the theory of Safety Human Engineering and the means of Management Engineering, combining the safety characteristics of post-industrial society, the Safety Management Engineering is developed a brand-new intersect subject bridging the natural and social science.

The Safety Management Engineering is constructed as a key subject in the Liaoning Technical University, and the related sustention subject of Safety Technology and Engineering is the national key support subject and Liaoning province’ key subject. It relies on Liaoning province’ key laboratory of coal mine safety engineering to develop, The major of safety engineering is one of the second kind of characteristic speciality firstly authorized by the Ministry of Education and it is thought of as the demonstration speciality of Liaoning province.

Aiming at the subject feature and tutor team of College of Safety Science and Engineering, the cultivation project includes four research direction: (1) the safety management engineering of coal mine having distinctively industry feature; (2)the safety appraisement and invalidation analysis, safety system engineering and safety psychology paying particular stress on the theory and method research; (3)the safety information engineering paying particular stress on developing the software; (4) the safety monitoring control system of coal mine applying the information-based management means.
